LIVERMORE, CA — The Zephyr Grill & Bar announced that it will reopen some time in August following a small fire in its prep area on July 1. In addition to renovations, the restaurant announced on its website and social media pages that it is changing its name and re-evaluating its menu and hours.

The fire broke out late that night after the restaurant had closed and no one was present, according to a post from the restaurant. Thanks to the sprinkler system and the fire department, the fire was stopped, but extensive water, smoke, and soot damage resulted in a delayed reopening.

In a July 18 post, the restaurant announced that it is installing new floors, repainting the entire restaurant, and hiring an industrial hygienist to assure full safety before reopening. The restaurant also announced that it will be changing its name from Zephyr Grill & Bar to Zephyr on First.

Additionally, Zephyr is switching to an all-day menu, changing its hours, and adding a rack of lamb as a new choice.

“As downtown Livermore currently has no dedicated steakhouse, we believe Zephyr on First will offer something truly special to the community,” the restaurant said.
When Zephyr on First reopens, it will be open Monday to Thursday from 3 to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
