17-Year-Old Arrested On Suspicion Of Gun Possession

Long ​Beach police arrested a 17-year-old boy who had a gun in a public park over the weekend.

LONG BEACH, CA — Long Beach police arrested a 17-year-old boy who had a gun in a public park over the weekend, authorities announced Tuesday.

Police said they observed the boy in Drake Park through city cameras and saw he had a loaded firearm. Officers responded to the park, arrested the boy and confiscated the gun without incident, LBPD said.

"This is a great example of officers using technology to make our city safer, amazing work," LBPD said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
