LONG BEACH, CA — A woman was hit by two different cars and killed early Wednesday morning, causing police to shut down the Seventh Street onramp for the 22 Freeway.

Two different drivers were also at the scene and told authorities they hit the woman as she was crossing the street.

Initial investigation results revealed the woman ran across the road outside of a marked crosswalk when a car hit her and knocked her into a different lane. The woman fell into the lane and another car hit her, LBPD said.

After the collisions, both drivers pulled over and called 911. They both cooperated with the investigation and speed, distracted driving and impaired driving do not appear to be factors in the crash.

The woman's identity is unknown at this time, and authorities said she will be identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.

While the investigation took place, drivers were encouraged to take a detour to the 22 Freeway and enter on Studebaker Road because access was blocked on Seventh Street.

Seventh Street was reopened to traffic just after 12 p.m.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision was urged to contact LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective Joseph Johnson at 562-570-7355. Anonymous tips may be submitted by calling 800-222-8477 or online at LACrimeStoppers.org.
