Here are the top stories in Long Beach today:
- A North LB pot dispensary was the scene of a Sunday morning shootout. Located at 5574 Atlantic Avenue, a security guard was approached by two men. Shots were fired, the guard was hurt. The men fled by car. (LB Post)
- The Long Beach Poly football team won against the Golden Knights 38-7. The Saturday game was the CIF Southern Section Division 4 match at St. Francis. This win is the first CIF-SS football championship since 2012. (The562.org)
- The Downtown Long Beach Alliance wants you to participate in its 4th annual Unfiltered Photography Contest. You have until Tuesday at 11:59 p.m. to upload your photo fitting into this year’s categories. They are “People/Places/Events, Architecture, Environment, and the Downtown Long Beach Skyline.” A panel will choose 20 finalists whose work will be displayed on December 17. One photo of each category will win a prize. (DTLB Unfiltered)
- LB Library Services Director Glenda Williams is retiring on December 30. She looks back on a four-decade-long career that included working as a “library clerk, general librarian, department librarian, bureau manager and director.” She also received the 2017 National Medal for Museum and Library Service. A replacement has not yet been announced. (City of LB)
- Modica’s Deli at 455 East Ocean Boulevard just put up a Gingerbread Village installation that you have to see to believe. The smell from the gingerbread is yummy! Go in the late afternoon or early evening, when you can fully appreciate the lights! (Modica’s Deli)
