Attempted Carjacking Escalates To Shooting In Long Beach

An attempted carjacking escalated into a no-hit shooting early Wednesday morning in Long Beach.

LONG BEACH, CA — An attempted carjacking escalated into a no-hit shooting early Wednesday morning in Long Beach.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers responding to a shooting call in the 6600 block of Paramount Boulevard at about 12:31 a.m. At the scene, a man told officers he was tending to his vehicle when another car pulled up next to him.

According to the victim, three men got out of the car and attempted to carjack him but were unsuccessful.

"[This] subsequently resulted in one of the suspects firing shots at the victim’s direction, missing him," LBPD said in a statement.

The suspects fled the scene in their car in an unknown direction before officers arrived. No injuries were reported in the incident and the investigation is ongoing, according to authorities.
