Here are the top five stories in Long Beach today:
- A white sedan crashed through the entrance of the American Vintage Barbershop at 203 Covina Avenue Wednesday. There were only minor injuries, and everyone refused medical treatment. The business plans to be open again today. (LB Post, American Vintage Barbershop)
- We learned on Thursday that Odys Aviation “recently signed a lease for 15,000 square feet of office and hangar space with Ross Aviation at Long Beach Airport.” The space sat empty for a while. This aerospace startup “raised $13.7 million in seed funding to accelerate the development of its hybrid-electric aircraft.” (LB Business Journal)
- Update on 61 Bus Assault of a 12-Year-Old: Last year in September, we talked about a boy who was assaulted by a man on a bus. On Tuesday, a 37-year-old man pleaded no contest and was sentenced “to 440 days in county jail and two years probation in connection with his plea to one count of child abuse under circumstances or conditions likely to cause great bodily injury or death.” (Patch, LB Post)
- Bored and Hungry officially celebrated its grand opening Saturday, and it’s fair to say that it was a huge success. “We've had people on the grand opening day fly in from Brazil. A guy came in from Miami, and he came here, ate his burger, [and said] 'I got to fly out in 2 hours.' If you came here on grand opening day, you literally saw lines two blocks down into the neighborhood,” the owner said. (ABC)
- For those of us celebrating, today is Good Friday and the beginning of Passover. There are plenty of meal options at the 6255 East 2nd Street Gelson’s. If you would like to attend church on Good Friday, there are several congregations holding services today. Besides that, remember that the Peace Vigil for Ukraine is planned for tonight!
