LONG BEACH, CA — The Long Beach Police Department arrested one driver and cited five more people during a driving under the influence checkpoint Friday, officers announced. Police said <a href="https://www.longbeach.gov/police/press-releases/lbpd-holding-dui-checkpoint-on-dec-19-2025/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">249 vehicles passed through the checkpoint</a> at Artesia Boulevard and Cherry Avenue.During the seven-hour-long checkpoint, officers screened 157 drivers, according to police. One driver was arrested for DUI, while an additional five drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed, police said. "The primary purpose of DUI/CDL checkpoints are to promote public safety, increase awareness of the dangers associated with drinking and driving, and deter impaired and unlicensed/suspended drivers," police said.
