1 Driver Arrested, 5 More Cited At DUI Checkpoint In Long Beach
Police said 249 vehicles passed through the checkpoint Friday evening.
LONG BEACH, CA — The Long Beach Police Department arrested one driver and cited five more people during a driving under the influence checkpoint Friday, officers announced.
Police said 249 vehicles passed through the checkpoint at Artesia Boulevard and Cherry Avenue.
During the seven-hour-long checkpoint, officers screened 157 drivers, according to police.

One driver was arrested for DUI, while an additional five drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed, police said.
“The primary purpose of DUI/CDL checkpoints are to promote public safety, increase awareness of the dangers associated with drinking and driving, and deter impaired and unlicensed/suspended drivers,” police said.
