Carjacking Suspect In Stable Condition After Driving Into Ocean
Authorities rescued the driver of a car that was submerged in the ocean near the Long Beach Marina.

LONG BEACH, CA — The Long Beach Fire Department rescued a man suspected of carjacking and assault from a Jeep that was submerged in water on Tuesday.
The Long Beach Police Department told Patch they responded to the area of the San Gabriel River and Pacific Coast Highway at about 10:19 a.m. to assist the fire department with the vehicle.
"Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle in the water, LBFD lifeguards conducted a water rescue of the driver," LBPD spokesperson Alyssa Baeza told Patch.

According to the Seal Beach Police Department, the driver is suspected of felony carjacking as well as assault and was arrested. LBPD told Patch that investigators discovered that the Jeep was stolen out of the city of Norwalk.
Paramedics transported the driver to a local hospital in stable condition, LBPD said. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
