Christmas Shooting Lands Man In Jail In Long Beach

A brief verbal altercation between two men escalated when one man shot a gun toward the other, LBPD said.

LONG BEACH, CA — Long Beach police arrested a man for a no-hit shooting in North Long Beach on Christmas night.

The Long Beach Police Department received a report about the shooting at about 9:04 p.m. in the area of Paramount Boulevard and 68th Street. When officers arrived, the victim told them he was walking in the area when an unknown man approached him.

"A brief verbal altercation occurred, which escalated when the suspect discharged a firearm towards the victim," LBPD said in a statement.

Officers located a man they believed to be the suspect nearby, took him into custody and transported him to Long Beach City Jail for booking.

No injuries were reported and the motive for the shooting was unknown, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
