Here are the top five stories today in Long Beach:
- The Dream Catcher of Los Angeles Therapeutic Riding Center was robbed. “The center’s saddles, specially adapted tack for children and adults with disabilities, supplies, even their tractor, were stolen overnight Tuesday.” The horses are okay. If you know anything, please drop a dime to contact the Burglary Detail at (562)570-7351. (Fox 11)
- Is your teen looking for a summer job? The Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine will host a job fair on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Doris Topsy-Elvord Community Center at Houghton Park (6301 Myrtle Avenue). Teens can make $15 an hour! (LB News)
- The Health Department urged parents on Friday to remember their children’s MenACWY vaccine. It prevents cases of bacterial meningitis, which can cause long-term disabilities or death. Picking up bacterial meningitis is as easy as having kids share soda cans or water bottles. (@LBHealthDept)
- CSULB and the city have partnered on Thursday to “support current international students at the university who have been cut off from family resources and access to bank accounts due to catastrophic circumstances beyond their control in their home countries.” Funds raised help these students pay for food, housing, and counseling. (Long Beach City)
- Have you visited Morning Nights yet? The vegan restaurant at 4150 McGowen Street is the best-kept secret of The Hangar. It revives the old tradition of yum cha. Best of all, it takes traditionally meaty dishes and reinvents them. You owe yourself a taste! (The HiLo)
