Homeless Man Arrested For String Of Sex Crimes In Long Beach: Police
Police believe there may be more victims who have yet to come forward.

LONG BEACH, CA — A 56-year-old homeless man has been arrested on suspicion of committing multiple incidents of sexual battery, the Long Beach Police Department said Tuesday.
Charles Larry Matthews was arrested and booked on Jan. 6 on suspicion of two counts of sexual battery. Police believe he is responsible for three incidents, according to the LBPD:
- Sexual battery against a female adult at around 12:25 p.m. Jan. 4 near Molino Avenue and Anaheim
- Sexual battery against a female teenager at around 1:45 p.m. Jan. 6 near Atlantic Avenue and Broadway
- Sexual battery against a female adult at around 2 p.m. Jan. 6 near Alamitos Avenue and Broadway
Matthews' bail is pending magistrate review. Police have presented the case to the City Prosecutors Office for filing consideration, according to the LBPD.
