LBPD To Hold DUI Checkpoint Downtown This Friday
The Long Beach Police Department will be holding a DUI checkpoint on Aug. 23.
LONG BEACH, CA — The Long Beach Police Department will conduct a DUI checkpoint on Friday in the Downtown area.
According to a statement from LBPD, the locations are based on data trends that show where impaired driving-related crashes happen. The checkpoint will take place in LBPD's South Division which includes the area of Anaheim Street to Harbor Scenic Drive and the Los Angeles River to Cherry Avenue.
The checkpoint will be from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” LBPD Lieutenant Jose Flores said in the statement. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improve traffic safety.”
Impaired driving doesn't just include alcohol, some prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, other illegal drugs and marijuana can also land someone a DUI.
