Long Beach DUI Checkpoint Scheduled For Memorial Day Weekend
The Long Beach Police Department will conduct a DUI checkpoint in the North Division this weekend.
LONG BEACH, CA — The Long Beach Police Department will conduct a DUI and driver's license checkpoint in the North Division this Memorial Day weekend.
According to a statement from LBPD, the locations are based on data trends that show where impaired driving-related crashes happen. The checkpoint will be from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.
“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” LBPD lieutenant Jose Flores said in the statement. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improve traffic safety.”

Impaired driving doesn't just include alcohol, some prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, other illegal drugs and marijuana can also land someone a DUI.
First-time DUI charges can cost an average of $13,500 in fines and drivers could get their licenses suspended if convicted.
