LONG BEACH, CA — Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed overnight in Long Beach, according to authorities.

Law enforcement identified the victim as Andre McClendon, 41, of Long Beach, who detectives determined was shot after being approached by several males who fled the scene in a vehicle before officers arrived, according to police.

Officers responded around 2:15 a.m. Sunday to the shooting in the 1700 block of Pine Avenue, where they found McClendon suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body, police said, adding that McClendon died at the scene.
