Man Shot Multiple Times, Killed Near Long Beach City College

According to preliminary investigation results from LBPD, the man was approached by one or more unknown suspects and then shot.

LONG BEACH, CA — A man was shot and killed Wednesday night near Long Beach City College, police announced.

The Long Beach Police Department responded to a report about a shooting at around 8:09 p.m. in the 1000 block of East Pacific Coast Highway. When officers arrived, they found a man who appeared to have multiple gunshot wounds in his upper body.

Police officers rendered medical aid to the man before Long Beach Fire Department paramedics arrived to transport the man to a nearby hospital. The victim, who was identified as 36-year-old Korey Brown, later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by hospital staff.

According to preliminary investigation results from Homicide Detectives, Brown was approached by one or more unknown suspects and then shot. The suspects fled on foot before officers arrived, and the motive and circumstances of the shooting are still under investigation.
