The owner intends to create “a trauma-informed workplace,” which provides “job training, mentorship and case managementfor residents in transitional housing. 3. The LBUSD and TALB have agreed to discuss the addition of full-day kindergarten for good. As of Monday, kindergarten in the district is full-day as a pilot program at 11 sites. Moreover, the programs are run by volunteering schools and teachers who agreed to take on this project. (LB Post)
  4. On Tuesday, water polo coach Jeff Nesmith announced that he intends to step down. He is the boys’ coach at Wilson. Nesmith plans to “remain involved with the program and keep teaching Introduction to Law at his alma mater.” The move from head coach to lower-level coach comes after a successful year and in the wake of “graduating a big group of decorated seniors.” (The 562)
  5. Carnival Miracle UPDATE: Yesterday, we reported on the young woman who went overboard the Carnival Miracle cruise ship. On Sunday, after searching for 31 hours, the U.S. Coast Guard announced it was standing down. Industry insiders revealed to the New York Times that passengers falling from the ships is “becoming much more uncommon than it was 20 years ago,” giving rise to speculation that “when it happens, typically there are other factors involved.” A passenger reported he saw members of the crew throw life preservers into the water. Moreover, the spot where the passenger fell overboard “had been cordoned off with blue tape.” (ABC, NY Times/paywall)
