  1. LB will continue running after-school programs and learning hubs in the winter, the City announced Friday. Registration begins Wednesday. Learning hubs are for independent study students of the LBUSD from kindergarten through 8th grade. Running from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., they take place at Houghton Park, McBride Park, Orizaba Park, and Veterans Park. After-school programs are for children between five and 12 years of age and take place at a wide variety of park locations. (City of LB)
  2. On Sunday morning, there was a shooting in the 1800 block of Cherry Avenue near PCH. A man went to get something from his parked car, when “he heard shots and realized he had been struck by a bullet.” Gang detectives are investigating the shooting. (LB Post)
  3. The LBPD is also investigating the shooting death of a man in the 7200 block of Atlantic Place. On Saturday, officers were “flagged down by a citizen who notified them of a shooting that occurred earlier in the night.” If you have any information, please contact Homicide Detectives Leticia Gamboa or Ethan Shear at (562) 570-7244. 4. On Saturday evening, the LBPD found a stabbing victim in the port complex. The man was stabbed near his truck at the 1200 block of Pier G Way. According to officers, the victim was approached by another man, the two had an altercation, and the stabbing occurred. (LB Post)
  5. Did you know that LB has a cheese shop? Oh La Vache is located at 2112 East 4th Street. There, they not only sell all things cheese but also offer classes. On Sunday, the owners took some time to give their best charcuterie tips, tricks, and suggestions. Ideas included using three kinds of cheese, choosing products from different milk sources, and planning to provide about three ounces of meat and cheese for guests. (The HiLo)
