1. Man, Woman Dead In Apparent Murder-Suicide In Long Beach (patch.com) — Two people died in an apparent murder-suicide late Friday night in a Long Beach neighborhood near Summit Street and the 710 Freeway, according to police. Officers say 23-year-old resident Daisy Uribe was fatally shot, and a man she’d been dating was later found shot nearby. Detectives are investigating the case as a domestic violence incident and are asking anyone with information to contact them.
   

2. Long Beach will launch its pilot program for automated speed enforcement next year (presstelegram.com) — Long Beach is rolling out automated speed-enforcement cameras on 18 high-injury corridors, with installation and a warning period planned in 2026 before real tickets begin. Backed by a $5.6 million contract and state pilot authority, the program ties into the city’s Vision Zero goal to cut traffic deaths, includes fine reductions for low-income residents, and will fund more traffic calming citywide.
   

3. Hacegaba elected President of the California Association of Port Authorities (mhwmag.com) — Incoming Port of Long Beach CEO Dr. Noel Hacegaba has been elected president of the California Association of Port Authorities, positioning Long Beach’s port chief as a leading voice for all 11 deepwater ports in the state. He’ll advocate on issues like infrastructure investment, environmental sustainability, and workforce development while succeeding Mario Cordero as CEO on January 1, 2026.
   

4. First round of Love Your Block grantees announced for West Long Beach projects (sigtrib.com) — The City of Long Beach has awarded the first Love Your Block mini-grants to five resident-led projects focused on cleaning, greening, and improving air quality in West Long Beach’s 90810 area. Funded efforts include youth tree plantings, a community bee apiary, a new garden, and programs that swap vapes for air purifiers. Residents can watch for future grant rounds through the city’s Office of Civic Innovation.
   

5. St. Anthony alum Elijah Price donates $10K to basketball program (presstelegram.com) — A former St. Anthony High standout has launched his ‘Luv From The West’ foundation in Long Beach by donating $10,000 to support his old Saints basketball program. Elijah Price, now a Division I player at Nevada, returned to inspire current players, lend ongoing mentorship, and lend his name to the newly renamed Elijah Price Fear The Halo Classic showcase.
