Here are the top five stories today in Long Beach:

  1. A shoutout to Millie Conner! The Barclay Street resident turned 100 years young on Thursday! “Millie lived in LB on Barclay St. for nearly 70 years. She worked for LBUSD for 20 of those years and raised two children who graduated from Jordan High School.” Happy Birthday! (@LBFD)
  2. Having the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach means dealing with road closures, and there are several you need to know about. They begin April 6 and go through April 11. Although some of them will shift, it is a good idea to stay away from Shoreline Drive, Seaside Way, the Queensway Bridge off and on ramps, and Aquarium Way. It gets a little more confusing with Ocean Boulevard and Pine Avenue. Keep your eyes open for signage! (LB Post)
  3. The LB Rescue Mission announced its Easter Basket Drive on Thursday. Organizers plan to take 1,000 baskets to Roosevelt Elementary School. Until April 6, you can make donations for the basket drive. From April 7 to 9, volunteers will assemble them. (LB Local News)
  4. Are you hip to Ma ‘n Pa Grocery at 346 Roycroft Avenue, on the corner of Colorado Street and Roycroft Avenue? It got a glowing write-up Friday as having “the best breakfast burritos in town” and being “a well-known secret in the middle of a residential neighborhood.” Check it out! (The HiLo)
  5. Tuesday is “Take Out Tuesday and Dine In Too at Naples Rib Company,5800 East 2nd Street. “Call (562) 439 7427 for takeout from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. or call to make dine-in reservations 4-9 p.m.” And Tuesday, you can dine with a cause! “Mention that you support St. Bartholomew’s Church, and Naples Rib Company will credit the church with a percentage of the proceeds. All proceeds go to local charities through the St. Bartholomew Women’s Council.” (Beachcomber)
