Woman Hit By 2 Cars, Killed Near CSULB Identified By Authorities

LONG BEACH, CA — The woman who was hit by two different cars and killed early Wednesday morning near California State University, Long Beach has been identified by authorities.

Officers responded to the area of Seventh Street and Peppertree Lane near CSULB at about 5:04 a.m. When officers arrived, the woman was lying in the street.

Long Beach Fire Department paramedics declared her dead at the scene. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner later identified her as Tabitha Ixchop, 35.

Two different drivers were also at the scene and told authorities they hit the woman as she was crossing the street.

Initial investigation results revealed the Ixchop ran across the road outside of a marked crosswalk when a car hit her and knocked her into a different lane. She fell into the lane and another car hit her, LBPD said.

After the collisions, both drivers pulled over and called 911. They both cooperated with the investigation and speed, distracted driving and impaired driving do not appear to be factors in the crash.
