1 Impaled In Lumber Truck Crash On 118 Freeway
The grisly fatality snarled traffic for miles as authorities investigated the cause of the Chatsworth crash involving two trucks and an SUV.
CHATSWORTH, CA — One person was killed in a morning rush hour crash that snarled the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway for hours Monday.
The crash occurred on the westbound side of the freeway shortly before 9 a.m. in the Chatsworth area before the Topanga Canyon Boulevard offramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash involved an SUV, a rental moving truck and a flatbed hauling lumber, according to the CHP. The impact of the crash sent lumber from the flatbed through the cab of the moving truck, impaling and killing one person inside.

Information was not immediately available on the identity of the fatally injured person, who died at the scene.
Several lanes were blocked during the investigation, prompting the CHP to issue a SigAlert.

All lanes were reopened about 12:15 p.m., the CHP reported.
