Security Guard Shoots And Kills Boy Who Drove Into Westside Dispensary

The driver, a 16-year-old wearing a ski mask, was rushed to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A security guard shot and killed a teenager who deliberately drove into the front of a marijuana dispensary in West Los Angeles early Monday morning, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The shooting occurred just after 3 a.m. at Pico Boulevard and Centinela Avenue, in the Sawtelle area, an LAPD spokesman confirmed to Patch. According to police, a 16-year-old boy wearing a ski mask drove through the front of a cannibis market, causing the store security guard to believe a robbery was in-progress.

''The suspect drove the entire car into the front of the business,'' LAPD Detective Meghan Aguilar said. ''A security guard shot into the vehicle.''

Video showed a newer Hyundai sedan that crashed through the glasswindow of the ERBA Weed Dispensary's West LA location. The teen was able to climb out of the wreckage but was found a short distance away.

He was found suffering from a gunshot wound, conscious and breathing, and was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the LAPD.
