1 Stabbed At High School in Highland Park​

One person was stabbed in the face at Benjamin Franklin High School in Highland Park, and a suspect fled into the neighborhood.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A stabbing at Benjamin Franklin High School in Highland Park, prompted school police to descend on the school shortly after the morning bell Wednesday.

Police responded to a report of a stabbing on school grounds at 820 N. Ave. 54 at about 8:40 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department Officer J. Chaves told Patch. One person was stabbed in the face.

The suspect, a man n his 20s, fled into the nearby neighborhood.

According to a message sent to parents by the school, the suspect was later arrested.

“Our school was placed on lock down; however, no other students or staff were impacted by this incident. Our campus is now safe," the message said. "A suspect was taken into custody by law enforcement.”

"Counseling services and support will be provided for students and staff impacted by this incident. In addition, we have made a request for additional support from the Los Angeles School Police Department."

It was not immediately clear if the victim was a student nor what the student's condition was.

The incident is one of several reports of violence at Los Angeles schools Wednesday, including two bomb threats and an unconfirmed report of armed suspects on campus at Susan Miller Dorsey Senior High School in the Crenshaw area.
