2 Killed In 101 Freeway Crash
Two people were killed in a crash on the 101 Freeway Tuesday morning.
LOS ANGELES, CA — Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash on the 101 Freeway in Studio City early Tuesday morning, according to authorities.
The crash occurred before 2:25 a.m. on the westbound 101 near the Tujunga Avenue exit, near the junction with the 134 and 170 freeways, according to the California Highway Patrol.
According to preliminary findings, a black KIA compact SUV was stopped in traffic lanes for unknown reasons and two people inside exited the vehicle, said West Valley Area CHP Officer Cody Sturges.

"While the occupants were outside of the vehicle, a white International box truck collided with the Kia and the occupants," Sturges said. "Both occupants of the Kia — one male and one female — were pronounced deceased on scene by LAFD personnel."
The LA County Medical Examiner's office withheld their names until family notifications were made.

The westbound 134 transition to the westbound 101, and the Tujunga Avenue on-ramp to the westbound 101 were closed for several hours and traffic on the westbound 101 was diverted onto the northbound 170, ABC 7 reported.
