2022 Google Trends: What Were Angelenos Searching?
Los Angeles landmarks like LACMA were among the most searched in the country. Meanwhile, Angelenos had their minds on arepas.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Google released end of year data on how Los Angeles locals used their search bars in 2022, and it looks like gas, COVID-19 testing and arepas were top of mind.
When looking for local spots, Angelenos were most concerned with gas. "Gas prices" was the most common "near me" Google search of the year, followed by "remote jobs," "cheapest gas," "plasma donation," "pilates" and "comedy shows."
Los Angeles was the only place in the United States to have the phrase "free PCR test" in its top "near me" searches for the year. For the entire country, "PCR test near me" was the number five near me search.

When Angelenos looked for a new recipe, "arepas" was the top search. Los Angeles was the only place in the country to have "arepas" top recipe searches.
Los Angeles remains a top tourist destination for people across the country. The Beverly Hills sign was the ninth most searched scenic spot on Google Maps for the whole country in 2022, one of three California spots to make the cut. The others included Golden Gate View Point in northern California and Glacier Point in Yosemite Valley.

Los Angeles cultural staples also topped national searches. The "Urban Light" exhibit at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art was the second most searched cultural landmark in the United States. Dinos Alive was the fourth most searched exhibit in the United States.
The Los Angeles Rams were the fifth most searched sports team in the country, and Disneyland was the top search for tickets, followed by Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift and Phillies. "Rap" was Los Angeles's top music genre search.
