Dad Paralyzed After Being Shot Trying To Protect His 3 Young Kids: LAPD

LA authorities are offering a $25,000 reward for helping solve a shooting that left a father of three young children paralyzed.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Authorities are offering a $25,000 reward for help solving a shooting that left a father of three young children paralyzed, the Los Angeles Police Department announced Thursday.

The crime occurred April 6 at around 8:45 p.m. at Alvarado and 7th streets near MacArthur Park.

The 41-year-old victim noticed two women arguing between his vehicle and a silver Toyota Camry, which was double parked on the street next to his car.

The man decided to move his vehicle for the safety of his three young children, who were seated inside, out of concern the fight would escalate, police said.

As the man was walking to his vehicle, someone who was sitting inside the Camry shot him. The Camry then fled the scene, heading north on Alvarado and then eastbound on 7th, police said.

The victim, Luis Hernandez, was paralyzed as a result of the gunshot, police said.

Police are searching for two persons of interest: A 40-year-old, 5-foot-10 man who weighs about 180 lbs. and a 30-year-old woman with black hair and brown eyes, who is 5-foot-6 and about 140 lbs., police said.
