3 High School Seniors Hurt In High-Speed Crash

Three high schoolers nearing graduation were hurt with one youth trapped in the wreckage of a car crash in Stevenson Ranch.

STEVENSON RANCH, CA — Three high schoolers nearing graduation were injured Thursday when a vehicle crashed into a tree in a gated community in Stevenson Ranch, trapping one boy in the wreckage.

Rescuers were called about 12:40 p.m. to Smoketree and Willowbrooke lanes.

Two of the victims got out on their own, California Highway Patrol Officer Eric Priessman said. Rescuers later extricated the third teen, who was entangled in the wreckage.

The trapped teenager, who was a front seat passenger, sustained major injuries, according to the Priessman, who said speed appeared to be a factor in the crash. The other two boys were also transported for hospital treatment, but the extent of their injuries was unclear.

The victims are seniors at nearby West Ranch High School, Priessman said.
