LOS ANGELES, CA — Another week of muggy, rainy weather could be on tap for the Southland, with the potential for thunderstorms as the remnants of yet another tropical storm drift over the region, forecasters said.

The National Weather Service, which announced it would continue to update forecasts during the government shutdown, said Southern California can likely expect rain toward the end of the week.

"There continues to be a lot of uncertainty in the forecast later in the week as moisture from what is currently Hurricane Priscilla moves up the Baja Coast while an unseasonably cold upper moves into the coastal waters west of the Bay Area," forecasters in Los Angeles County wrote Monday morning.

A low-pressure system is expected to keep temperatures at or slightly below average to start the week. Meanwhile, inlanders will see more sunshine and warm weather.

Later in the week, there is a "big wrinkle" in the forecast as Tropical Storm Priscilla arrives in SoCal, the NWS wrote Monday.

While forecasters say they may not get "much clarity" on what Priscilla's arrival will bring for a few more days, there's a "considerable range of possible outcomes."

"From heavy rain, lightning, and muggy/warm conditions to no rain, a deep marine layer, and much cooler than normal temperatures," the NWS said.

Patchy morning fog is expected in the LA area through the week, with temperatures in the high 70s. Thursday night will bring a chance of rain and more fog.

Clear skies are expected in Orange, Riverside and San Diego counties through Wednesday, with a chance for rain beginning Thursday evening and possibly extending through the weekend, particularly in San Diego County.
