Arson Investigation Launched After Bed Catches Fire, Woman Badly Burned: LAFD
A woman was critically burned in a fire in a Century City apartment building Friday morning.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A woman was critically injured after a mattress caught fire in a Century City apartment Friday morning.
Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from a two-story apartment building on Bellwood Avenue, south of Wilshire Boulevard, before 6 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The fire was "confined to a mattress in the unit of origin" on the second floor, the LAFD's Lyndsey Lantz said.

A 38-year-old woman was critically injured in the fire and was transported to a burn center for treatment, Lantz said.
The Los Angeles Police Department and LAFD arson investigators responded to the incident.
