Will you celebrate Halloween this year? Tell us your plans! So far, 46.8% are turning off their porch lights, 40.4% will hand out candy, 4.3% are attending a party, and another 8.5% will accompany children to go trick-or-treating.
📰 Here are the top stories in Los Angeles today:
1) We learned on Friday that the LAPD arrested a 30-year-old homeless man “on suspicion of attempted murder.” He allegedly attacked a 22-year-old woman near Lankershim Boulevard and Hatteras Street by stabbing her in the head with scissors. Next, the man is alleged to have thrown a jar of pickles at a woman waiting at a bus stop. The DA “filed one count of attempted murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.” (Patch)
2) You can live in the Los Feliz home of SNL actor Fred Armisen. We found out on Thursday that he put the 1926 five-bedroom home on the market. The Tudor-style home is outside of Griffith Park and comes with a $3.495 million price tag. Armisen bought the 6,771-square-foot property in 2016 for $2.03 million. (Dirt)
3) Have you noticed the construction near the Vermont/Beverly subway stop? We learned on Wednesday that the construction at 316 North Juanita Avenue will become the Rousseau Residences, which is going to be a five-story building with 52 apartments. This project is part of the larger Enlightenment Plaza plan that is going to bring 454 apartments to the city. No proposed completion date yet. (Urbanize)
4) The Vets, a service that provides at-home veterinary services, will expand into Los Angeles. The company announced on Friday that pet lovers in “Marina del Rey, Beverly Hills, Beverly Grove, Bel Air, Rancho Park, Santa Monica, Venice, Westwood, Brentwood, and Culver West” can now access the company’s services. If you don’t see your neighborhood on the list, don’t fret! The clinic will “expand into more neighborhoods within the upcoming weeks.” (DVM 360)
5) Laser Rot is coming to the Heavy Manners Library on Sunday. The event runs from noon until 3 p.m. and is an opportunity for aficionados to watch picks from the LaserDisc collection. “Glitches, pops, bleeps, and boops are all part of the fun!” (Heavy Manners Library)
