Auto Fire Prompts Evacuation Order In Ventura County
The blaze burned in the river bottom near Auto Center Drive and Ventura Boulevard, according to Ventura County Fire Department.
VENTURA COUNTY, CA — A fire prompted an evacuation order Monday night in Ventura County.
The blaze, dubbed the Auto Fire, sparked in the Santa Clara River bottom near Auto Center Drive and Ventura Boulevard, according to Ventura County Fire Department. As of 9:30 p.m., the fire had burned 5 acres and was 0 percent contained.
About 75 firefighters fought the flames and stopped forward progress of the fire shortly before midnight, the department said. The blaze scorched about 56 acres.

Authorities issued an evacuation order for Zone 1, which includes the Santa Clara River between the 101 Freeway and Victoria Avenue. No residential structures were under evacuation.
"The fire is confined to the riverbed and poses no threat to structures at this time," officials said.

The California Highway Patrol asked people to avoid the area of Victoria Avenue and Olivas Park Drive due to the fire.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
