LOS ANGELES, CA — A group of bicyclists set off an explosion in a trash can, prompting a road closure and a traffic tie-up in downtown Los Angeles Saturday evening.
The Los Angeles Police Department bomb squad determined the explosive was a firecracker, Officer J. Chaves told City News Service.
The detonation was reported at 5 p.m. Saturday, Chaves said. It prompted the LAPD to investigate a trash fire at Pico Boulevard and 12th Street and temporarily shut down traffic in the area.
