Boy, 12, Killed In Sherman Oaks Crash

A 12-year-old boy was killed in a crash in Sherman Oaks on Wednesday morning.

SHERMAN OAKS, CA — A 12-year-old boy was killed Wednesday morning in a collision in Sherman Oaks.

The crash occurred after 10 a.m. on Woodman Avenue, near Moorpark Avenue. The boy was riding in the passenger seat of a vehicle when it struck a parked moving van, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

There other people were transported to a local hospital. Two of them, a woman and 10-year-old boy, were not injured, but hospitalized as part of standard protocol in fatal crashes. The third person was transported for unspecified medical reasons but was not involved in the crash, firefighters said.

Police and the mayor's crisis management team were at the scene assisting the victim's family, firefighters said.
