Boy Calls 911 After Father Is Killed In San Gabriel Valley Home Invasion
Detectives are still searching for the gunman.
ARCADIA, CA — Police in Arcadia are looking for a killer who shot a man in a home invasion attack Tuesday. The victim's 13-year-old son called 911 to report his father had been shot, but the intruder was gone by the time police arrived.
The victim, a 61-year-old man, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Authorities have not yet released a suspect description.
"Officers from the Arcadia Police Department responded to the 50 block of Woodland Lane in Arcadia regarding a report of a male intruder and a gunshot victim at the location," said LASD Homicide Bureau- Lieutenant De Jong. "Upon arrival, officers located a male adult, who resided at the location, suffering from a gunshot wound."

The child and his mother had reportedly just arrived home when the stranger forced them into the home and a confrontation ensued, ending in the shooting, according to detectives.
“Obviously, a very frightening situation for the entire family and unfortunately a man lost his life,” Dejong told KTLA. “It appears that this is possibly personally motivated.”

Nothing appeared to be taken from the home, KTLA reported.
According to NBC4, detectives recovered a gun inside the home.
