LOS ANGELES, CA — As we head into the new week, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.

But before we jump into Southern California’s top stories, residents should know the weekend's frigid temperatures are going away. That's thanks to a warming trend through the first half of this week — which will accompany Santa Ana winds on Tuesday and Wednesday morning across Southern California.

The wind is expected to pick up earlier, on Monday, in the deserts and Inland Empire, the NWS said.

Some areas will see a whopping 30 degree difference in highs from Saturday to Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

By Tuesday and Wednesday it will be in the 70s along the coast, with highs in the 80s in the valleys, 90s in the low desert and 60s-70s in the mountains. It could even reach 90 in the San Fernando Valley Wednesday, according to the NWS.

An ongoing pro-Palestinian protest at Pomona College escalated when dozens of demonstrators stormed the president's office, leading to a standoff that ended when 20 people were arrested, officials said Saturday.

And an underage boy was among those arrested in a Riverside County prostitution sting that the deputies say was conducted to reduce the demand for sex trafficking. The boy was arrested on a pimping charge and 14 adult men were arrested on charges of soliciting prostitution, deputies said.

Plus, just days after the 99 Cents Only store chain announced it would close permanently, one retail executive said his passions have been stirred enough that he wants to save the chain from certain death.
