Brick Thrower Faces 11 Felony Charges After LA-Wide Vandalism Spree: DA

LOS ANGELES, CA — A woman who trashed a dozen cars parked throughout Los Angeles and Santa Monica by throwing bricks pleaded not guilty to 11 felony charges, the district attorney announced Monday.

Lisa Jones, 30, pleaded not guilty to 11 felony counts and one misdemeanor count of vandalism of $400 or more in damage or destruction of property. She was arranged Friday and remains held on $120,000 bail, according to jail records.

The charges stem from incidents between Feb. 21 and March 29 in which Jones is accused of randomly vandalizing a dozen parked and unoccupied vehicles by throwing bricks at them in Santa Monica and Los Angeles, according to District Attorney George Gascón.

The Los Angeles Police Department arrested Jones on April 3 and said at the time that she also had committed similar crimes in Culver City, Burbank, Mid-Wilshire, Woodland Hills and Northeast LA.

In one incident on March 28 at around 5 p.m. — which was captured on video and garnered national media coverage — Jones drove to the 2000 block of Camden Avenue in West LA, exited her vehicle with a brick and threw it at a random vehicle's windshield. She then picked up the brick and drove away, the LAPD said.

“The reckless and destructive behavior exhibited by Ms. Jones demonstrates a flagrant disregard for the law and a lack of respect for other peoples’ property,” Gascón said.
