LOS ANGELES, CA — Firefighters quickly contained a brush fire that broke out in the mountainous Beverly Crest area Wednesday afternoon.
The fire, described as slow moving, had burned about a quarter acre as of 1:30 p.m. after breaking out near the 1600 block of North San Ysidro Drive, between Benedict and Franklin canyons, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Ground and air crews from the Los Angeles and Beverly Hills fire departments had stopped forward progress of the blaze within an hour. The fire burned less than an acre of "light-to-medium grass and brush in steep terrain between homes on San Ysidro Drive and Ferrari Drive," Humphrey said.
