Brush Fire Breaks Out In Northeast LA

A brush fire broke out in a hilly area of Northeast Los Angeles Thursday afternoon.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Firefighters extinguished a brush fire that broke out in the Mount Washington area Thursday afternoon.

The fire was reported before 1 p.m. on the 3500 block of North Tacoma Avenue, toward the base of the hilly Mount Washington area and north of Cypress Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Initially reported as a small grass fire, authorities later upgraded it to a brush fire due to the topography of the area and the spread, which totaled an area of 50 feet by 50 feet, the LAFD said.

"Approximately 46 firefighters on the ground fully extinguished all active flames and remain on scene for mop up. Air resources were deployed but not utilized," the LAFD said.

No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged.
