Brush Fire Triggers 2 Freeway SigAlert
The Glendale Fire Department is battling quarter-acre blaze near the 2 Freeway

GLENDALE, CA — A small brush fire burning alongside the Glendale (2) Freeway at Cherry Canyon Park south of the Foothill (210) Freeway triggered SigAlert Sunday night.
Flames were spotted burning on the hillside to the right of the southbound lanes shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday. The firefighting effort shut down three southbound lanes just south of Fern Lane, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP issued a SigAlert expected to last through 10 p.m.
There was no immediate word on the cause of the fire nor injuries or buildings threatened.

Commuters are advised to avoid the area and use the Foothill (210) Freeway or Verdugo Road as alternative routes.
