California Fire: Devastating Photos As Flames Tear Through Region

State officials cautioned the fires will worsen before the end of the week, prompting mass evacuations and a state of emergency.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Six wildfires are tearing through the Los Angeles region, prompting a state of emergency and mass evacuations as the strongest winds the region has experienced in a decade fan the flames. State officials have cautioned the fires will get worse before the end of the week, and firefighters from Northern California have been brought in to help battle the infernos.

Dozens of houses in region have been destroyed. Highways have been ordered shut as residents are trying to flee the area by car. And fierce Santa Ana winds have packed gusts of 50 mph.
