📰 Here are the top stories in Los Angeles today:
1) L.A. might be adding more homeless people to its rolls. We learned on Saturday that some people living in the “freeway homes purchased by Caltrans in El Sereno” are being asked to leave. Having been vacant, several homeless people moved in there in 2020. It affects some residents on Shelley Street, Sheffield Avenue, and surrounding areas. (Local Today)
2) A man was killed on Saturday around 2 a.m. in the 2300 block of El Segundo Boulevard. The PD responded to calls of shots fired. If you have any information, please call the Sheriff Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. (Nixle)
3) If you were in Council Chambers when Councilman Mike Bonin reacted to the racist rants of the former Council President and two councilmen who are still holding on to their positions, you might have contracted COVID. Bonin tested positive, and Acting Council President Mitch O'Farrell urges anyone there to “get tested beginning Sunday, and continue testing.” Concurrently, the council meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday will be virtual. (CBS)
4) Hotel Per La at 649 South Olive Street opened in late September. On Saturday, we learned that Per L’Ora, hailed as the hotels “new dining concept” has now opened. It blends “coastal Italian cuisine with local Los Angeles flavors.” (LA Downtown News)
5) Mark your calendars! CicLAvia is planning its South L.A. event. Scheduled for December 4th and running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the “route connects Exposition Park, Historic South Central, Florence-Firestone, and Watts.” Drivers should avoid Central on that day. (CicLAvia)
