CHP Patrol Vehicle Overturns In Palmdale

PALMDALE, CA — A California Highway Patrol vehicle apparently crashed into dirt and overturned on the right shoulder of the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway in Palmdale Saturday, shutting down southbound traffic.

The crash was reported at 6:43 p.m. Saturday on the southbound Antelope Valley Freeway at Barrel Springs Road, according to the CHP.

Witnesses reported that the vehicle crashed into dirt and overturned on the right shoulder and good Samaritans helped the officers inside get out, the CHP stated.

A SigAlert was issued at 7:09 p.m. shutting down the southbound lanes with traffic diverted off at Angeles Forest Highway. The road was reopened at 9:09 p.m.

The two officers were taken by ambulance to Antelope Valley Hospital as a precaution, CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig told City News Service.
