College Campus Stabbing Stemmed From Love Triangle: LASD

A stabbing at Mt. San Antonio College left one man hospitalized and another handcuffed.

WALNUT, CA — A man was in custody Thursday in connection with a stabbing at Mt. San Antonio College that apparently resulted from a love triangle between students, authorities said.

The stabbing was reported at around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the campus in the 1100 block of North Grand Avenue. Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to the location on a report of two men fighting, one of whom was stabbed in the neck.

Gavin Flores, 18, was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, and he was being held Thursday afternoon on $1 million bail, the sheriff's department reported. He was scheduled to appear Monday in Pomona Superior Court. The victim was hospitalized in stable condition.

The fight between the two men was over a woman, all students at the college, KTLA reported. The woman's ex-boyfriend started the fight and her new boyfriend pulled out a knife and stabbed the other man, authorities told KTLA. A knife was recovered, authorities said.
