LOS ANGELES, CA — We've rounded up the stories you may have missed over the weekend to prepare you for the week ahead.

But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, residents should expect a warm-up due to a high pressure system, according to the National Weather Service. By mid-week, temperatures are expected to be 5-10 degrees above normal.

"High pressure aloft will strengthen across southern California through the middle of this week with the heat peaking on Wednesday and Thursday with high temperatures for inland areas 5 to 10 degrees above average," the National Weather Service warned. "Not as hot for next weekend into early next week with high temperatures for next Sunday and Monday near to around 5 degrees below average for the coast and valleys and around 5 degrees above average for the deserts."

In other news, ICE arrests continued over the holiday weekend with masked men arresting a worker at a West Hollywood car wash and a street vendor in Highland Park, resulting in condemnations from city leaders. There were also several reports of fireworks-related accidents, including one that resulted in the death of an 8-year-old girl.
