Driver Extricated After Falling Over Side Of Road Onto Railroad Tracks

Firefighters found the vehicle over the side of the road and landed on the railroad tracks below, prompting rail traffic to stop.

RIVERSIDE, CA — One person required extrication Sunday after a vehicle fell over the side of the road and landed on Union Pacific Railroad tracks in Riverside.

Firefighters from the Riverside Fire Department responded to the area of Olivewood Avenue and Pachappa Drive around 12:10 p.m. Sunday. They found that the vehicle had fallen over the side of the road and landed on the railroad tracks below, prompting rail traffic to stop.

An additional truck company was requested to assist along with paramedics.

Extrication equipment was lowered using an aerial ladder, and the sole occupant of the vehicle was subsequently rushed to a hospital with moderate injuries, officials said.

Olivewood Avenue was closed in both directions while firefighters rescued the occupant of the vehicle.
