📰 Here are the top stories today in Los Angeles:

1) El Sereno Park child rape update: The police arrested a 27-year-old man on Tuesday as a suspect in the sexual assault of a 14-year-old child at El Sereno Park. The man was found in the 2500 block of Mallory Street. He was “booked on suspicion of aggravated kidnapping to commit rape. His bail is set at $1 million.” (KTLA)

2) Highland Park liquor store clerk killing update: On Thursday, we learned that the suspect who struck the 48-year-old clerk over the head with a Bird scooter is a 13-year-old boy. He was among the group of teens who were trying to steal beer from Fil-Am in the 100 block of East Avenue 40. A boy and two girls are still on the loose; please call Detective Obrecht at (213) 996-4184 with information. (KTLA)

3) There is a $25,000 reward for information about an October 1 hit-and-run at Broadway and 80th Street. The incident left a 3-year-old “with life-threatening injuries.” If you have any information, please drop a dime and call LAPD Officer Luis Herrera at (323) 421-2500. (ABC)

4) Copper thefts are in the news again. The LAPD said on Wednesday that it's working with AT&T “to prevent theft and damage to critical communications infrastructure in LA.” AT&T has offered a $5,000 reward for people giving information on those stealing the company’s copper cables. According to the company, the “incidents began in January 2022 and are ongoing.” (LAPD HQ)
