Fire Breaks Out At La Brea Avenue Businesses

A fire broke out at La Brea and Melrose avenues Friday morning.

LOS ANGELES, CA — It took firefighters just over 30 minutes to extinguish a fire that broke out in a row of commercial buildings on La Brea Avenue Friday morning.

Firefighters responded to 601 N. La Brea Ave., just south of Melrose Avenue, at around 8 a.m. In a one-story row of commercial buildings they observed smoke due to a fire in a wall, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

"Firefighters proceeded in offensive mode, opened up walls, and achieved knockdown in 33 minutes," the LAFD said. "Crews remain on scene to address hotspots and complete overhaul and salvage operations."
