Fire Crews Contain Brush Fire in Echo Park

A brush fire in Echo Park took firefighters more than an hour to contain Monday. Smoke could be seen for miles.

ECHO PARK, CA — Fire crews extinguished a brush fire that burned through at least a quarter acre of vegetation Monday in Echo Park Monday, and no damage to structures was reported.

According to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange, firefighters responded to a report of a light brush fire in the 1400 block of West Academy Road shortly before 1:30 p.m. Monday.

It took 34 firefighters 73 minutes to extinguish the fire without any injuries reported.

Prange said firefighters remained on scene to ensure full containment.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
