📰 Here are the top stories in Los Angeles today:

  1. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to 556 North Oxford Avenue on Monday evening. After being called to an apartment building fire, firefighters narrowed down the location of the blaze by following “smoke showing from one unit on the first floor.” Twenty-eight firefighters spent 15 minutes containing the fire, extinguishing it, and “clearing the residual smoke from the hallway.” No injuries were reported, and investigators are now determining the fire’s cause. (LAFD)
  2. Silverado Senior Living Management Inc. is in hot water with Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón. Charges were brought against the Fairfax District facility on Tuesday regarding an outbreak of COVID-19 that caused 14 deaths. Allegedly, the facility accepted a New York patient without testing for COVID, even though “the Silverado management team was aware of the risks associated with admitting a new resident from a high-risk area and failed to follow the appropriate procedures.” (ABC)
  3. The Tom Bradley International Terminal Core at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) celebrated its topping out. Contractors signed the beam that’ll become the terminal’s highest structural feature. Of course, the $490 million project is still far from completion. As of Monday, its estimated completion date is still some time in 2024. (Airport World)
  4. Bridgetown Roti is L.A.’s best-known food pop-up with a Caribbean twist. It was a business popping up during the pandemic. (If you’ve never tasted the food, head to Benny Boy Brewing on Saturday to taste it.) We learned on Tuesday that the company will open a brick-and-mortar location for counter service at 850 North Vermont Avenue — you may remember that space as the home of Café ‘50s. “They’re still far from an opening date, but hope to be live before the end of the year.” (LA Eater)
  5. Bob Marley’s “One Love Experience” came to Ovation Hollywood on January 27 with an April 23 closing date. If you haven’t made it down yet and April also doesn’t look good, we've some good news! We learned on Tuesday that producers will extend its run until May 21. Experience the “2,000-square foot One Love Forest, which is an immersive trip through Marley’s Jamaica,” as well as another 14,800 square feet of pure Marley. (Ovation, Billboard)
