Firefighter Suffers Heat Exhaustion As Crews Battle Blaze In Highland Park
The blaze, which is being called the Pasadena Fire, broke out just before 1 p.m. Wednesday.
HIGHLAND PARK, CA — Fire crews on Wednesday were working to extinguish a blaze that broke out in Highland Park, according to authorities.
The brush fire, which is being called the Pasadena Fire, erupted just before 1 p.m. Wednesday and burned through once-acre in the Ernest E. Debs Regional Park, near the Pasadena (110) Parkway.
One firefighter, who was amongst the first crews to arrive, was treated at the scene for apparent heat exhaustion, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Fire crews dealth with "oppressive heat, sporadic wind and fire," according to the LAFD. Through a coordinate effort that involved ground crews and water-dropping helicopters, they were able to get the flames contained within 40 minutes, according to the LAFD.
It's unclear what started the brush fire. No other injuries have been reported, and no structures were involved. Crews are still at the scene checking for hotspots.

Road closures are currently in place until fire operations cease. The northbound 110 Parkway offramp at Avenue 52, as well as Griffin Avenue and Avenue 52 between Montecito Drive and the 110 Parkway, are currently closed with no estimated time as to when they'll reopen.
